If you haven’t been doing interval training, you should start today
Interval training is the best aerobic exercise in my opinion. If he’s doing long jogs on the treadmill or he’s been doing 45 minutes to an hour on the elliptical machine, you need to switch to interval training immediately. This revives aerobic exercise and accelerates fat loss.
What cardio machine is best for interval training?
There are different opinions on this question, but for me, the treadmill is the best. With a treadmill, you can increase your speed and get your heart rate up. My second choice is a step mill (a new and improved version of the stair climber) that raises my heart rate and metabolism. I’m new to this, so I’m not a big fan of this, but you can try it if you want.
What’s the best way to do interval training on the treadmill?
The key to interval training (what I call the “sweet spot”) is to do the walking portion very slowly (between 3.5 and 2.5 miles per hour). The second key is to increase the speed of each interval. This allows your feet to warm up as you walk, allowing you to gradually reach speeds that destroy body fat.

Please set the treadmill program timer to 15 minutes. For his first minute, walk at 3.5 mph. When the timer hits 14 minutes for him, drive at 6.0-7.0 mph (a comfortable speed) and let him start for 1 minute. This first interval sprint should feel pretty easy. Then at 3.5 km/h, he walks for 1 minute. This is a 2-minute interval (1-minute sprint and 1-minute walk). Increase your speed by 0.5 mph at each interval (starting at 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5, and 9.0) and always walk at 3.5 mph. This should contain a total of 7 intervals.
